Welcome to the
P.E.I. Lifesaving Society

More then 400 Canadians die every year in water-related incidents - most of them in unsupervised settings. Drowning in areas supervised by lifeguars is a rare occurance. This is due in large part to the presence of the Lifesaving Society, providing education on safe supervision of public and private swimming pools and beaches. But drowning and water-related injuries in an unsupervised setting remain a serious problem. In fact, aquatic fatalities are the third leading cause of accidental death in Canada for people under 60 years of age. Sadly, most of these deaths are preventable.

It's these statistics that motivate us to continue educating Canadians on drowning prevention, as well as to provide training in emergency rescue skills.

The Society is a national registered charity and volunteer organization with deep historical roots in communities across Canada. The Society's breath of expertise comes from its experience in the field working side by side our volunteers, affiliates and operators of aquatic facilities. Through ten branches serving all the provinces and territories, the Lifesaving Society certifies more than 700,000 participants every year through its programs. the provinces and territories, the Lifesaving Society certifies more than 700,000 participants every year through its programs.
