
The Lifesaving Society is a National, nonprofit, voluntary organization that has been training swimmers to be lifesavers and lifeguards since 1908. We are dedicated to the prevention of water-related incidents and the saving of life in aquatic environments across Canada. We are a member of the RLSS Commonwealth Organization and the Canadian representative to the International Life Saving Federation. |
Our Mission: The Society's mission is to prevent drownings and aquatic related incidents for Canadians by public education and program education.
Our Vision: The Lifesaving Society serves Canadians by providing information and skills that promote safety in, on and around the water. We are the Canadian authority in aquatic lifesaving education and lifeguarding. A leader and partner in the delivery of water safety education in Canada and around the world. In striving to reach the vision the Lifesaving Society:
Conducts research in behavioural change; Maintains a foundation in research and collaborates with organizations working to advance safety education; Demonstrates leadership, with skills in strategic thinking and operational decision making; Ensures representation from all regions of Canada and facilitates the Society's work and resource development in all regions; Ensures each region of Canada is represented by Branches which provide diverse and flexible delivery methods for program and public education.
